| EU Project »NANO HVOF«Installations for surface coating, in particular thermal coating, allow the coating of highly critical components such as refinery pumps or parts for aircraft engines with metallic carbides, oxide ceramic or metallic materials, the target usually being a layer thickness in the range of 100–2000 µm.
As part of the recently completed EU project, »NANO HVOF«, Thermico developed a method for the processing of micro-fine nano-structured powder materials, allowing the cost-effective production of thin, coatings with accurate contours with a layer thickness in the range of 10–50 µm. This method will prove instrumental in coating components such as piston rings and valves more cost-effectively and in a more environment-friendly way than the conventional hard-chromium plating process.
Another innovation developed by Thermico is an HVOF process for the internal coating of components without overheating them. |
